Overview

The University of Chichester is based across two campuses in Chichester and Bognor Regis and has a history which dates back to 1839, before finally being given university status in 2005. Just over 5,000 students study at Chichester, giving it a intimate and friendly atmosphere.

The Bishop Otter campus in Chichester concentrates on all sports based courses, English, history, music, theology and business and management, while Bognor Regis focuses on teaching, fine art, engineering, film and media degrees.

The University of Chichester has one of the best student satisfaction ratings in the country, as well as impressive graduate employment rates. The Mathematics centre at the university currently works with over 30 countries and has an international reputation for excellence. Gatwick Airport is one hour away by train, while Heathrow can be accessed by travelling into London for a connecting service. Southampton airport is the closest to the University of Chichester and is 45 minutes via car.

Services for International Students

The University of Chichester runs two International Orientation events in September to help you settle in quickly and meet other students. Free International Academic Language Support sessions are offered throughout the semester, ranging from pre-sessional English lessons to a BA in International English Studies completed alongside a standard degree.

The University won the Sunday Times Best University for Student Retention in 2013, meaning few students dropped out from its courses in Chichester and Bognor Regis. The University also performs well in the teaching of social studies, cultural studies, performing arts and sport. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 89.7% of the University’s entire research submission was classed as internationally renowned, with 15% of the research being classified as ‘world leading’.

The Accommodation Office can help students find rented accommodation in Chichester and Bognor Regis, while homestay is also available with a landlord or host family, which can help improve English language skills and immerse a student in English culture.

Chichester is a university city and is home to a number of historic buildings, as well as being popular with outdoor pursuits in the nearby South Downs. Bognor Regis is a historic seaside resort town very popular with tourists, featuring long beaches and many small villages nearby.
