Bristol has an international reputation for high-quality education and research, with the work of its staff and students resonating across the world. More than 25,000 students currently study at the University from over 150 countries.
The University is ranked 58 th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2021) and has excellent graduate employment rates, coming 9 th in the UK for graduate employability (QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2020). The completion rate of 95% is among the highest in the country, and 90% of undergraduate students are awarded either a first or 2:1 (Times Good University Guide 2021).
Situated in the heart of Bristol, the University is one of the 24 members of the research- intensive Russell Group. It is one of the original ‘red brick’ universities - six institutions founded in the major industrial cities of England.

Students are assigned a personal tutor or supervisor to meet with regularly, and the Study Skills service can help with academic development. The University supports student wellbeing with services such as online peer support, the Student Counselling Service and the Multifaith Chaplaincy. Medical care is available on campus at the Students’ Health Service.
The University of Bristol is acknowledged by the government, research bodies, funding agencies and industry as a major centre for enterprise, innovation and research. Bristol is a top five UK institution for research intensity (joint fifth in THE analysis of REF 2014), with 83% of its research in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
The University of Bristol provides more than 5,000 residential places for undergraduate students and around 1,000 for postgraduates. University accommodation is guaranteed for all new first-year international students who apply by the deadline (subject to conditions).
There is both catered and self-catered accommodation in student houses and halls, some of which are arranged as flats. Some residences are in the city centre or Clifton, while others are situated at the edge of the city with acres of grounds. A regular bus service connects the halls with the University and other parts of the city, and students living in University accommodation travel free.
The University of Bristol is situated in south west England and has all the energy of a bustling urban metropolis, but with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that will help you feel at home. Most University buildings are situated close together at the heart of the city, so you can enjoy everything Bristol has to offer.
The city’s modern facilities are linked by a large public transport network. Bristol International Airport is easily accessible from the city, and London is just 90 minutes away by train. The city is perfect for exploring on foot or by bike, and is home to over 400 parks and green spaces – proportionally more than any other UK city.
