Students of St Mary's benefit from over 165 years of tradition and expertise in teaching at a historic and scenic campus based in Twickenham. With a campus also based in Greater London, St Mary’s is both local and global. St Mary’s has nearly 6,000 students across four academic Schools offering 34 undergraduate degree programmes, 24 postgraduate programmes, available to study on a full-time and part-time basis, as well as study abroad and Erasmus programmes.
Undergraduate students also have the option of undertaking practical part-time work placements organised by the Centre for Workplace Learning which links academic learning to personal and professional development, aiding future career prospects. The University is ranked 8th in the UK for graduate employment, with 94.2%* of graduates employed or in postgraduate education six months after graduation (HESA), and ranked first in London for both course satisfaction and teaching satisfaction (Guardian University Guide 2020).
St Mary’s University, London active Students’ Union (SU) and location means the University offers an exciting social life both on and off campus. The SU organises all kinds of entertainment, from weekly events through to annual major occasions like Freshers' Week, SIMMStock (above) and the Summer Ball. There are currently 48 clubs and societies at St Mary’s.

94.2% per cent of St Mary’s graduates are in employment or postgraduate education within six months of leaving the University, while Which? University group described St Mary’s as being one of the top universities for athletics and sport science.
Following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, the work submitted in English and Communications was rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in 61% and 60% of their respective output submissions. Other successes include Sport and History in which 50% of the output submissions were either ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. Postgraduate research has been described as “world leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour” by the most recent Research Assessment Exercise.
